Ah, Napa. If you look hard enough, you can find just about everything you want in this serene stretch of Northern California countryside. Including spirits.
That’s right – in the heart of Napa Valley you’ll find Charbay
distillery and its associate stable of spirits, liqueurs and wines – a novel fact given that more than 300 wineries dot the landscape around Napa, yet Charbay is the only distillery to call the valley home.
Friday Fun Day
And now, Napa visitors can taste the fruits of Charbay’s singular efforts every Friday from 2-5 p.m. at the new Distillery Bar at The Cantinetta at Tra Vigne Restaurant in St. Helena. This is particularly good news for those looking to taste an assortment of spirits from the award-winning producer, since strict sampling laws prohibit tasting more than just a smattering of spirits at their distillery on nearby Spring Mountain. Instead, the Distillery Bar features the entire gamut of Charbay’s wine and spirits portfolio, which encompasses vodka, single-malt whiskey, Alambic Pot Still rum, Black Walnut Liqueur, grappa, flavored aperitifs and – naturally – Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
Looking to do more than just whet your whistle? Chef Nash of Tra Vigne has crafted an appealing appetizer pairing menu to go along with Charbay’s offerings, further proof that where Napa’s concerned, you’re pretty much bound to be served just what you want, time and time again.
The Cantinetta at Tra Vigne Restaurant, 1050 Charter Oak Avenue, St. Helena, Napa Valley, CA (707) 963-4444. No reservations required for the Distillery Bar.
