Damombo,
Gosh, next time you have a sine and dinner pairing, please invite me. Sounds like it would be worth the trip down.

We are going to a wine dinner at one of the local restaurants on September 12 featuring Roar Winery Pinot Noir. Looking forward to it.

The dinner was a huge success! We started with Roasted Red Pepper Soup paired with a 2008 Kendall-Jackson Sauvignon Blanc. Next was a Wedge Salad with Granny Smith Apple/Bacon/Blue Cheese Crumbles/Candied Pecans and an Italian Ranch Dressing paired with a 2009 Wilhelm Bergmann Piesporter Goldtropfchen Riesling. Then we served a Chicken Manicotti paired with a 2008 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay, followed by Grilled Pork Loin and Horseradish Mashed Potatoes paired with a 2008 Layer Cake Shiraz. Next we served Spicy Grilled Shrimp and Cheese Grits paired with a 2008 Biale Zinfandel (thank you again for that recommendation Hawkeye!). The Grilled Filet of Beef, green beans and sauteed mushrooms came next, paired with an amazing 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (Rutherford) from Frank Family. We finished off the evening with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate Hazelnut Gelato, topped with a Chocolate Port Drizzle from Prager Port. I should mention that this was Tapas - style, so each course was small in order for us all to make it through the meal! It was so much fun - I highly recommend you host a wine/food pairing party - your friends will be all kinds of impressed!!

I am so envious! We have to wait until October 21, but we will be there for 8 nights. Will expect a comprehensive review when you return and the gems that you found.

Share your menu with us.

Only 8 days to go and then we will be in Napa! I'm sooooo excited! Tonight we are having 6 people over for a Wine/Food Pairing dinner - just to get us ready for the trip 5 of the 6 guests have actually been to Napa Valley with us in the past - we are working on the 6th! Ahhhhh - I'm all smiles today!!
