Thanks for the information on Keenan, gang. Though we usually do all of our tasting in Sonoma County, I was thinking to take another shot at some new places in Napa if we ever get back to the area ( timing these days just STINKS!!!)
Hawkeye, I will look forward to your opinion about the others.

Hi Yesilovewine,
We too, have tasted at Keenan with similar results as Damombo. However, we did bring home 2 bottles of their 2007 Spring Mountain Zin.

As for Clif Family Winery and Tayson Pierce, we have not tasted (or even heard about) them. However, they will be on our list for March. We do enjoy finding new (to us) wineries to taste. Thanks for the heads up. Maybe we will combine them with some of the ones I listed the other day and make a day of new tastes.

Hi Yesilovewine - we have been to Keenan. Here is what I wrote about our visit:

"First tasting of the day was at Keenan and we also planned to have our picnic there. They have a couple of picnic tables with a lovely view. Our tasting was at a large table with a charming, down-to-earth hostess and was very casual and relaxed. They had a large number of wines to taste! I lost count. While we enjoyed our tasting there, none of the wines were quite our style/taste/palate."

That was last September. We did buy a 2008 Zin from them and opened it in November. It was quite good - better than I had remembered and now I'm kinda sorry we hadn't gotten more!

Excuse the poach, Hawkeye, but are you or anyone else familiar with any of these Napa facilities? I just read about them in a magazine I received called Tasting and Touring and my interest is piqued.
Tayson Pierce- a Cab house that is pretty new and already winning national competitions. The tasting notes for the '06 Cab made my mouth water.
Clif Family Vineyard-Owned by the follks of Clif Bar fame, this venture is apparently taking off as well. The Sauv. Blanc tasting notes sound great.
Keenan- It sounds like they make a really nice array of delicious wines here, and I suspect that the Spring Mountain location can only be a plus.

I've heard of both CAYMUS WINERY and SPOTTSWOODE, but not any of the others. Haven't tasted wine from any off this list either. Sounds like fun - all new ones! See if cabgirl will tag along with you she writes the most amazing notes...

I am starting to plan our March trip to the Napa Valley and have been perusing WineCountry.com and other webs sites. I am especially interested in Cab and Zin wineries. I ran across a website yesterday that gave 10 top Cab wines and in checking the websites, I found six that sounded interesting to me. These are mostly "high end" producers. Unfortunately, I did not bookmark the page and I can't locate it again. They are, in no particular order:
CAYMUS WINERY
SPOTTSWOODE
RAMEY VINEYARDS
CORRA WINES
ALTAMURA
PETER MICHAEL
We have not visited any of these. Some only produce one or two Cabs. Anyone out there have any experience with any of these wineries? Inquiring minds want to know!

I still want to get to some of the wineries on Diamond Mountain.
