Speaking of little devices to keep track of your cellar, I'm surprised that I haven't been able to find a good app for my android phone for tracking my cellar and keeping notes of wines I've tried while I'm out, etc. Ideally, it would have access to a database that I can look up wines while I'm at the store. Any suggestions?

That is an interesting combo - I do like the idea of scanning a bar code and all of the info just pops into place. However, I wonder how many of our current bottles don't have a bar code. The Cakebread Reserve Chardonnay we just received doesn't. Have you looked at the Personal Wine Curator v3.5 software? It looks pretty detailed and easy to use... http://www.thewinecurators.com/PWCmain.shtml
and it's only $50 compared to $279. No scanner, but I did play with the software demo and I liked the way it was laid out.

Damombo,
Now that you have all that wine in your "cellar" you need to have some type of inventory software. I have been lookin at this one for a long time but just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I really have to settle on what to call it - Mr Damombo finished the wine storage room last weekend. Just in time since he had total knee replacement this week! We finished loading all of the boxes of wine into it which were from our November trip and April trip and that was fun! Now the wine is resting in a cool, protected environment and just waiting for us to return and get it organized. And I have the lake house back - no boxes piled on boxes of wine! Now I just have to break down the boxes and recycle all of that stuff - wish everyone would move from the styrofoam inserts to the cardboard stuff. Easier to recycle or breakdown and store...
Cheers!
