Hi Hawkeye,

Goosecross was the first winery in Napa that visited, and have been going back every visit since. I really enjoy all their wines (they have a wide range of varietals), and they have some of the friendliest workers in the Valley. I also schedule a visit with one of the owners when I am there. I would highly recommend it.

Last night we opened an '07 Madrigal Zinfandel. Full on jamminess and a luscious mouth feel with a lip smackin' finish! Pretty darn delightful - must call and order more, if there is any left.

Are you packed yet Hawkeye?

We're gearing up for a family invasion, I mean reunion, for the same time you'll be living the good life. And I bet that those bums will be drinkin up my wine!!! (sigh) the things we do for family....

Last night we met friends at our favorite restaurant in Chattanooga, St. John's Restaurant. St. John's is the No 1 rated restaurant by TripAdvisor.com and is an upscale dining experience second to none. (I haven't eaten at the French Laundry, but have at a lot of others especially in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys). It is one of the few in Chattanooga that will let you bring your own wine.

Last night we took a Merriam Chardonnay for our friends who are not red drinkers. For us, we took a 2007 Redmon NV Cab. At first, it was a little sharp, but as it decanted, the flavors began to come through. As the wine touched the palate, the berries just exploded in your mouth and the finish was very smooth and luxurious. WOW, what a cab.

We visited Redmon in March and were given the tasting by Lisa Redmon, the owner. At that time we got to taste their 06 Cab which had just been awarded 96 points by Wine Spectator. This 07 that we had last night was every bit as good, if not better, in my opinion.

Our group will be tasting with Lisa Redmon in October and we are looking forward to tasting her 08 Cab. I hope she has a couple bottles of the 07 left!

Life is very, very good.
