kod, on our last trip we were able to bring back several cases with us because of our "status" with the airline...that "thing" you get when you are a frequent flyer or frequent hotel user. Left Brain's rating allowed us 5 free bags, so we each had a suitcase and then had 3 free bags available. We actually re-used our shippers from previous trips and took those with us ( which raised eyebrows at TSA initially), filled them, and brought them back with us. Before that, we would buy the cardboard shippers at one of the wineries and then take the filled cases to the FED EX office in SF. I think the boxes cost us about $8. Just by transporting to SF on our own we saved about 30% as opposed to having it shipped from Sonoma.[This message has been edited by yesilovewine (edited 11-23-2011).] IP: 71.65.250.120 |

Kod,This is the wine check bag: http://www.thewinecheck.com/ It worked great to just check a case of wine as luggage. If you need any help drinking any of those 7 shipments, please let me know. I think your only about an hour away from me! IP: 155.178.6.10 |

What are wine check bags? I went overboard this trip and bought too much.It was easy for my wife and I to get carried away. I now have 7 different shipments coming in. I think I am going to regret this and perhaps I should have used one shipper but at the time, it was easier than lugging around many many bottles.IP: 68.45.99.199 |

Hi Carjeff,Glad that you had a great trip and I look forward to reading your report. Has anyone here tried the Wine Tasting 101 at Silver Oak in Napa Valley? I am looking at it for our group next October. My cold is better, but continues to hang on. - Hawkeye [This message has been edited by Hawkeye (edited 11-21-2011).] [This message has been edited by Hawkeye (edited 11-21-2011).] IP: 68.169.184.155 |

Hi Carjeff! Yeah, Hawkeye is a hard act to follow, so I just don't try He does have the gift of making us feel like we are there - maybe all those years as an educator is what makes him so eloquent... Looking forward to hearing what your trip was like! IP: 76.31.52.34 |

You should have seen my FED EX man! After lugging three cases to the house, I gave him a bottle of wine and he was very happy.- Hawkeye IP: 68.169.184.155 |

Well thank goodness things have cooled off a bit in Texas. The wine shipping has begun!!We FINALLY have received the wines we ordered from Sojourn last April. I thought it was a case, but apparently we opted for 6 bottles - 3 of their 2007 Spring Mountain District Cab and 3 of their 2009 Gap's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir. Can't wait to try them out! We've also received a case of Vincent Arroyo, and our club shipments from Seghesio, Francis Ford Coppola, Ledson, Biale, Deerfield & Dutcher Crossing. I guess it's OK that we didn't get to make our trip - we have received many a consolation prize this week Cheers!!! IP: 96.8.187.200 |
