Kendall-Jackson's Camelot Highlands Chardonnay is what you are looking for. oak aged for 18 months.

All the chardonnays I listed are high quality ones. But make sure you call the places beforehand to make sure they have the ones you want to taste. Rombauer, Frank Family, Newton, and Failla are in the same general area. And I really like Frank's red wines ( cabs, zin, pinot). And Failla has some really excellent Pinots ( esp Keefer Ranch) and a very nice private tasting.

Thank you very much for your suggestions! Things been busy and I haven't been able to plan much...but did book a private driver one day & we'll do our own the rest. I'll check back her to see how it went.

Cheers!

I am a fan of big chardonnays as well. Jarvis has 2 reserve ones and a nice cave tour. Ancien has a rich chardonnay. Both places are in Napa. Rombauer and Frank Family are a little north of St Helena and have big buttery ones. White Rocks north of Napa is a small place with an individual tour and tastings that include a reserve chardonnay very rich and a more Burgundian one. The reds were not as good. Failla has a great one as well as highly rated pinots located in Calistoga. ZD in St Helena has a big chardonnay. Miner Family close to Yountville has 2 chardonnays including its Wild Yeast. Newton has an amazing unfiltered chardonnay, located in St Helena.
In Sonoma, Sbragia located north of Healdsburg has a couple, one the outstanding Gamble Ranch Chardonnay. Lynmar near Santa Rosa area also has a traditional chardonnay and is a pretty place.
I would call the wineries and ask about what chardonnays you will be able to taste before you go.

(I also posted in Sonoma area but thought to try Napa too...)

I am treating my father for a week of wine trip in Sonoma/Napa for his retirement..this will be father-daughter trip :-) He always loved oakey, traditional California Chardonnay and wondering which winery we should try to visit during our stay. Any suggestions?

This is our first time in wine country, so ANY suggestions you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Kate
