yes, We are white club members of Cakebread and have their SB.....only 4 bottles left of the case that I bought at Christmas! Their Chard is not too shabby either. One of the few wineries that I can get shipments into Alabama.Kod, Have circled both Faila & Hill Family. Running up my circles on the Napa side too! Will have to save some for next trip, but from your review on Faila they will be a definite this time around. Thanks, everyone! RC IP: 99.18.69.239 |

I visited Failla near Calistoga in November. My wife and I had a private tasting sitting on a sofa and sampling all of their products. Their pinots are superb, esp. their Keefer ranch pinot which was rated 94 in this years Wine Spectator. I opened one up this weekend at a BYOB restaurant and shared in with another couple. We thought it was spectacular, a more rich full bodied type of pinot. We agreed with the Spectator's rating. Another very pleasantly surprising experience was Hill Family in Yountville. I did not like their pinot very much but their merlot and cabs were very enjoyable. Both had smoother tannins and are drinkable now. IP: 68.45.99.199 |

If you are going to Cakebread, we had their SB last night and found it quite tasty. IP: 71.65.197.21 |

Richard - Have circled them on my map to visit.Bigsemi - Yes, familiar w Rutherford Hill...usually go there each trip. Don't know why, but I don't recall tasting their Merlot. I will this time, though. Like Round Pond's SB & will stop in for a couple of bottles this trip as well. V Sattui....we have been there most trips for the deli and will give a tasting another try this time. Thanks to both for input. Sauv Blanc: Round Pond and V. Sattui both have excellent ones.Merlot: Can not beat Rutherford Hill. The 07 Reserve Merlot just got a 95pt score from W.E. IP: 108.214.36.208 |

RC, This isn't a wine you mentioned, but Mahoney makes a really good Albarino- an italian white grape varietal- that you might like since you like Sauv. Blanc. I think they have a tasting area in Oxbow Market.IP: 71.65.197.21 |

We had a Shafer Merlot the other night that was wonderful. My sis-in-law and brother prefer Merlots, so we brought out several. They also enjoyed the Schweiger (they are up on Spring Mountain). Third up was a Cakebread Merlot, but it was definitely in third place. We do have a Regusci Merlot, and if we bought it, we must have liked it, right? We have a Sauv Blanc from Madrigal and again, it's been a while, so I can't remember details, but I have enjoyed everything we got from Madrigal and we plan of visiting again. Cheers! Need your help.....for our May trip want to know your favorite houses for PN & Sauv Blanc. While we are at it, a velvety Merlot as well. I think that it's fair to say that most on here prefer Zins & Cabs. If you have a palate for the less tannin wines, let me know your suggestions.BTW, posted on both sides. RC IP: 99.18.69.239 |
