Last trip, we stopped at Sunshine Foods in St. Helena and they had a great deli. Love the local places. We have also enjoyed Madrigal and Benessere (club members now) up toward Calistoga. Have a great trip. Scott

Yes V. Sattui is great. It will be crazy on the weekend, but worth it. lunch there from the out door bbq area is great as well. If you get the iphone app they wave tasting fees.

Prager is a great spot, Hall-St. helena, Heitz is free, Dean and Deluca is a fun stop, Down town St. Helena has tons of great shops, and a couple nice tasting rooms, and the Culinary School.

There is a pretty big concentration of places to hit from V.Sattui to the north end of St. Helena. Enjoy!

Have you looked at Cakebread's website to decide which appointment you would like? They do require an appointment and they have a number of different types of visits - we really enjoyed the wine and food pairing a few years ago.

I know that Bigsemi is a huge V.Sattui fan - I'm sure he would encourage you to plan on having lunch there as well as doing the tasting.

There are plenty of choices up valley for you - Chase Family Cellars is a wonderful place to visit and would be a different experience from either Cakebread or V. Sattui. Madrigal is one of my favorites, too. Then there are the wineries on Spring Mountain - that drive is awe inspiring for those of us who live in the flat lands.... We've enjoyed Pride, Keenan, Terra Valentine, and Schweiger on Spring Mountain. All the ones I've mentioned do require an appointment, so google them and check out their websites to see if they offer something you might like.

Cheers!

We are staying at the Oleanader house Saturday and Sunday. Plans are to head north from there on Sunday. Planning on stopping at Cakebread and also want to get to V. Sattui. Thinking maybe Opus one. Any thoughts or suggestions.
