Uncorked a bottle of Benessere's Holystone-Collins Zin, one of our favorites and the main impetus for joining their wine club. Enjoyed it with grilled salmon and asparagus, and roasted red potatoes. The wine was gone far too quickly.

A little Devil's Peak from Terlato, a kick butt blend from Rutherfod Hill. Cab, merlot, P. Verdot, Malbec( the only one I've found I like), And Cab Franc. Had it with some yummy burgers off the grill.

Last night I put a baking potato on the grill and a little later, added a New York Strip which was about 1½" thick. It took it about 12 minutes to cook the way we like it. To the steak and potato we added a vegetable mix (I hate to admit, but yes, it was frozen . . . but tasty).

I also opened a bottle of 2006 J. Gregory cabernet. A very tasty cab with concentrated flavors of red fruit and a nice lingering finish. I am a fan of Mark and Kandice Jessup, owners and winemakers of J. Gregory. I believe that Mark told me that his last vintage as winemaker at Jessup Cellars was 2008 . . . their loss.

We will be taking some California friends to our favorite restaurant, St. John's on Wednesday night. I believe I will take a couple bottles of the 2006 J. Gregory cabernet.
