Hi NJ girl,

We learned EARLY on to NOT fly into SFO. Almost any time of day it is a 3 to 3 1/2 hour drive to Napa and the traffic is horrible.

We fly into Sacramento. The fares into there are usually lower than Oakland or SFO and it is an easy 1 1/2 hour drive to Napa. Plus, getting your rental car may only take you 1/2 hour after you get your luggage.

Rough start with that drive, but a nice touch to finish off the night. Is there anything open late in downtown Napa for decent eats? We are going out for a few nice meals but need some cheap eats too.

Also, when we fly we go into Oakland, much easier and cheaper from LA.

Hey all,

Since I gained SO much from all of the suggestions from this site - I thought I would share my trip itinerary with you all!

Day 1 (Wednesday, June 13)
Arrived into San Francisco at 1:45pm. Took Airtran to Rental Car Area & started our trek to Napa at 3pm. Bad idea in terms of timing! Traffic was horrendous!!! We were just so excited to get to Napa that we started out right away. We didn't arrive into Napa until about 6:30pm! (It took us about 3.5 hrs!) UGH!!!

Anyway - we stayed at The Chablis Inn in Napa. Nothing to write home about...but the room was clean.

Dinner that night was a Ca' Momi in the Oxbow Market. By the time we arrived at the restaurant - everything at Oxbow was closed - but we enjoyed a nice meal & a drink at dinner. We both ordered pizza & it was terrific. The service was great & the owner was going around to various tables to say hello. Well - after talking to her a bit - she asked what brought us out there & we told her our anniversary. She said "oh, you have to hold on!" She rushed away & then came back with a complimentary dessert! What a great way to start out our trip!
