Then I would start promptly at 9:30 at Chateau Montelena. Followed by Sterling. Do those two early and first because they will get crowded. I'd drop Twomey and go to Paoletti next. Maybe see if they will let you have a picnic there? Because you will need food by then. Then go to Frank Family and end your day at Mumm. Since you have a large party, I would check with each place NOW to see if they can handle the group or require an appointment.

Where are y'all staying? Or I guess I should ask where you are coming from to start the day. I'm suggesting starting up north and then heading south so that you end the day nearer to Napa, but if you are actually staying in Calistoga, then reverse would be better.

Picnic supplies can be gathered at a number of places - the Palisades Deli in Calistoga is great, the Soda Canyon Grocery just north of Napa is, too. Plus there is a Whole Foods in Napa on Trancas near 29. I think that you can call and place an order for pick up at the first two, which would be a time saver... And I always grab the picnic stuff before the first winery stop.
I know, I'm and over-planner, but it works for us

Thank you.

We are doing Mumm because others wanted to visit a sparkling vineyard in that area. What would you all recommend?

We are sticking to that area because they were highly recommended as good, beautiful, somewhat off the beaten path and not too heavily traveled. We do not want to visit the 'usuals' that everyone will be at.

I'd second the notion to drop Mumm.
Its nice enough to visit, but gets super crowded and there are other sparklers I would prefer to drink.

hmmmm, well, what made you select these six in the first place?
You've got the interesting history at Chateau Montelena, along with lovely grounds.
Sterling has the gorgeous view and easygoing self-tour... Frank Family used to be a hoot - the guys that worked the tasting room were hilarious. Then they built a new, fancier tasting room and it got a bit stuffier.
Couldn't tell you about the others, other than Mumm is sparkling and we don't care about sparkling wines. Twomey looks to have a small selection of wines and Paoletti a fairly large selection.
If you start your day at Chateau Montelena, you have a nice logical progression down valley to visit these places (that's if you are staying in Napa).
I guess I'd drop Mumm, myself - but if someone in your group is wild about champagne, then you should keep it and drop something else.
Again, personally, I'd drop Twomey since their wine selection isn't as broad as Paoletti.
And if you do go to Frank Family, get someone to tell you about the Marilyn Monroe connection.
Good luck!

I need to eliminate ONE of these. We have too many stops in one day. Please provide your opinion -

Mumm Napa
Paoletti
Twomey
Frank Family
Sterling
Chateau Montelena

We are trying to fit all of these into one day.
