Hi Bigsemi,

Wow, you crammed a lot into such a short time. a big THANKS for the excellent review of your trip. I, too, will have to join Damombo and visit Razi and Sciandri.

I would definitely check out Razi and Sciandri. Even if your tastes don't match ours, you will love Mr. Razi, and the Sciandri's. They are great people, and as I've always said, there are tons of great wineries, the people make the biggest difference.

Sounds fantastic! Y'all always have such a fun time. I'm hoping we get to go in October, so maybe I'll be able to schedule us a visit with Bell or Razi or Sciandri - they would all be new to us. Perhaps I'll name drop - I do it all the time with Hawkeye's name and sometimes they let us stay

It was a quick trip, but we had an awesome time. My brother lined up The Villa, at Dante's Vineyards. Nice 2 bedroom, 1 bath house, with a hot tub. It is situated halfway between Santa Rosa and Calistoga on Petrified Forest Rd, there is a second house on the property that can also be rented. Staying at the house was my wife and I, my older brother(4th trip with us), and my nephew and his girlfriend (Their first trip to the valley).

We landed in SFO on the morning of the 26th and headed to Calistoga, got lunch at Palisades, then to our first winery, Reverie. My wife and I are members. It was a good first experience for my nephew, they got a comprehensive cave tour, got to try some awesome wine, and enjoy the red wood grove. My older brother ended up joining their wine club.

From there we headed to our rent house to relax and cleanup before the first of 2 parties we were attending.

That evening we headed to the Castle for their Hot Havana Nights Party. Great Cuban food, music, and cigars! We hung out with a smaller subgroup and just hungout, shot the breeze, and enjoyed cigars and lots of different beverages. It was a great way to finish off our first night in Napa.

Saturday morning we headed to Palisades for breakfast, then headed down to Razi Winery. We tasted with Mr. Razi again. He is a great guy! We ended up purchasing a 06 and 09 Razi Red, and a 09 and 2011 Chard, my brother got an 09 Red, and the 2010 Syrah, and my nephew got a couple bottles as well. Very nice visit, great wine, highly recommend Razi.

From there we headed over to Domaine Carneros for sparkling wine tasting. We ordered a cheese and meat plate to accompany our tastings. Again another nice tasting with great views of Carneros, we ended up buying their flagship Pinot, very tasty, expensive, but very good, it just got 93pts in Wine Spectator.

From there we went and wandered around Yountville, and hit Bouchon Bakery. From there we drove down the street to Bell, the wife and I are members. We had a sit down tasting with a cheese plate. Lots of cool info about the various cab clones used around the valley, My nephew got a 375ml of the Clone 6 Cab, their flagship wine, and my brother got a couple bottles of merlot and syrah. From there we headed back up to the house to relax a bit before heading to V. Sattui for their Festa Italiana.

We headed to V. Sattui a little early to attend a VIP preparty for Sattui winemaker Brooks Painter for winning wine maker of the year at the San Francisco Chronical International Wine Competition, the biggest of its kind in the U.S.

As always great food, music, and friends. It was a nice relaxing evening.

Sunday morning, got breakfast at Palisades and headed down to Round Pond for an Olive Oil and Wine tasting. Our 6th time doing it, 3rd for my brother, and 1st for the nephew and gf. As always we had a nice time, tried several of there new oils, and their wines.

After we headed to Oxbow for ice cream and to wander around a bit.

At 2:30 we headed back to Sciandri Family Vineyards. We spent the next 3 hours with Ron and Roberta Sciandri enjoying great wine, food, and conversation. We have really come to love these guys every bit as much as family. We've already made plans to head back out for a barrel tasting in September. You guys really need to check them out. Great Cab, and Cab/Syrah blends. We bought their 2010 vintage to keep our verticals going, and my brother and nephew bought several bottles as well.

We ended the night back up at Boscos in Calistoga for dinner, then caught an early plane the next morning home. Quick but very fun trip.
