So my wife and I are planning a week long trip to Sonoma/Napa and don't really know where to start. We like the reds - zins especially - but short of googling wineries and rolling the dice, it's going to be a lot of guesswork.

How do you get around? We'll have a rental car, but would like to have a hotel/resort as base camp and then spend a couple of days hitting a few locations. Then move to another hotel/resort and do the same.

How many wineries is feasable for a day? If the wine is good, well, then we'll obviously stay longer and partake. What about restaurants? We have a pretty liberal budget but I think we tend to lean towards casual attire, but good food is a must.

Any advice is appreciated.
