Hi Cabgirl, Glad you are back among us. I think that a lot of the Sonoma wineries will waive your tasting fee if you purchase some wine unlike Napa where $25.00 and higher for a tasting is becoming commonplace. But then, if they charge me $25.00 for a tasting, I do not feel obligated to purchase anything. I just had one tell me their $50.00 tasting fee was waived if you purchase 6 bottles of their wine.

Hey damombo,
I always check Sonoma.com for either free or 2 for one deals. http://sonoma.com/special_interest/coupons/Wine.html

A lot of wineries are also letting you just show the offer on your phone so you don't have to print them out either.

Others not on the list above that have free tastings that I know of off the top of my head are: Williamson, Cline Cellars, Jacuzzi Family Vineyards, Homewood Winery.

Most wineries in Sonoma usually have a $5 tasting fee. And sometimes this is waived, though I'm not sure if there is surefire way to score such a thing. It varies from winery to winery or staff member to staff member. Also, be sure to ask for recommendations and tasting coupons for other wineries at the winery you are tasting at. This trick works in both Napa and Sonoma. Even if I don't end up using the coupons on that day or trip, I'll save them for next time.

If you are planning to visit Sonoma County from Sebastopol to Cloverdale, there is a good FREE map from WineRoad.com. It is in big enough print that some of us older folks can read. And did I mention that it is FREE? You don't even have to pay postage. Just go to their website, www.winecountry.com and scroll down and on your right will be a place to click for a FREE map. There is not much FREE in Napa or Sonoma anymore. Although, if you carry the Visa Signature Card, many of the wineries offer FREE tastings and some a discount on purchases.

As with most maps, it is not all inclusive, I would imagine that it only shows their member wineries but I don't know that for sure. It is a pretty good map, and did I mention that it is FREE? You don't even have to pay the postage! Now, that is FREE!
