We were able to check our leak proof boxes with SW airlines. Best way $25, didn't matter how many. Best way

I've had pretty good luck with getting shippers from the wine clubs to which I belong when I visit the winery. I've always been given a shipper for free even though I haven't purchased a case of wine.

If you need shipper boxes for storing or moving wine, try asking your local wine shop if they have used shippers ( I'm talking about the ones with the styrofoam inserts). In searching for shippers in our area we came upon a shop that offered us their used ones for only $5 each! That was a saving of $13 per box over all the others.
Who cares if they've already been used once? As long as the forms are still good and the box is in good shape...gofor it!!!

This is a repeat of my Napa post.
If you are a frequent flyer or in one of the major airlines' flyer programs, check with your carrier about luggage allowances before you leave home.
We learned that our status allows 3 checked items at no additional cost! A 12-bottle wine box fits into the size limit for this, so theoretically we can take 4 cases back with us at no additional shipping cost( 6 if we didn't check a suitcase) I had no idea that anyone had that sort of allowance...beats the Alaska/Horizon 1 free case/ticket perk!
