Well, it will be an interesting adventure at any rate...whenever time allows. In the mean time, I await our September wine shipments....

Yeah, I don't think that we each have a choice in our time stamp - I think that the web site is set up for CA time... which is fine, cuz CA time is WINE TIME!!We enjoyed visiting the VA wineries near DC a few years ago (in 2006). The surrounding area is beautiful and I loved driving around, but the wines were not to our taste. We bought several bottles but after we got home, we kinda wondered why. Ended up pouring most of it out My apologies to Virginia! IP: 76.31.52.34 |

I was just reading about them and my curiosity was roused once again. So my timestamp says 6:50 for the incoming of your post- so I guess that is west coast time. But we're on the East coast now in NC near the Va border. I am sorely lacking in tech skills so I have no idea how to change that- not that it matters I guess. New project will be to explore the VA and NC wineries that I've been reading about.IP: 71.65.198.80 |

We visited Quivira several years ago but I don't really have an impression - don't recall. I know we bought a few bottles but I guess we'd better stop by again so I can tell if we like 'em or not and by the way, the time stamp is California time, isn't it? It's 8:50 here in Texas right now... [This message has been edited by damombo (edited 10-05-2011).] IP: 76.31.52.34 |

Probably won't be going to VJB, but certainly will pass by. I'll make sure to note what the construction situation is.I've tried looking up Eighth Street Wineries, but haven't found much - at least I can't tell if they are open other than for specific events. I found an email address, so I've sent an inquiry. I'll look into the others you've suggested! Carjeff - Nooooo! I'm a plan-it-all-in-advance kinda gal! Don't do me that way!! I wondered if you might be going to VJB this time- they were very much under construction in May and I am curious to know if they're finished. Friends with interest in Italian style wines are headed out...and I was going to suggest them. We love Dutcher and recently received our shipment. Can't wait to open it! They have a newly-released zin that has 2 names which has gotten good reviews...our east coast friends went in July and think they had it, but forgot to write down what they drank!!! I'm also learning about the Eighth Street Wineries in Sonoma town...are you familiar with them? They are very off the beaten path, located in an industrial park setting. As I understand it, there are about a dozen wineries there now and some are quite good. While you're in town, also look for Haywood and Two Amigos. I'd be interested in your opinion of Two Amigos...that is a 2nd endeavor by our friends at Glen Lyon and we haven't tasted them yet. I am quite sure you would get a kick out of Squire and Suzy of Glen Lyon..I'm not certain that they offer tastings outside of events, but the wines are really quite good so give them a try if possible. We were invited to their home for a tasting during the Sonoma Reserve and it is just beautiful. The view over the vineyards is amazing and the wines are good too. If you want to try some Pinots without needing an appointment, try Roessler Cellars just off the Plaza. They are across the street from Hawkes. That's all I've got. Do tell if you know VJB's status, ok?[This message has been edited by yesilovewine (edited 09-29-2011).] IP: 71.65.198.80 |

Hey Yes - we will be staying in Sonoma (town) at the Ledson Hotel. We will get checked in on Tuesday evening and check out on Thursday morning. Wednesday I plan to head way north and start at Sbragia, then Pedroncelli, followed by lunch at Rustic at FFC. Then I think we will try to get an appointment at Rafanelli. We also want to stop at Dutcher Crossing (since we became members last April) I wondered about Fritz as a possibility. Thursday we have an appointment at Ledson and we will stop at Deerfield Ranch, but that is all I have thought out yet. Thursday night we stay in Oakland near the airport and head home early on Friday Thoughts? Suggestions?? I'm all ears! IP: 76.31.52.34 |
