Hi Rainment and welcome.
I have never been during December, but I think I can guide you to some resources to help you find out what you want to know.

Both the wineroad.com website and the bestinsonoma.com website have event calendars for their areas that are pretty well maintained so I think that checking those will give you an idea of what is going on in the area at that time. winecountry.com's site has one as well that covers a broader area.
I think that it was last year that winecountry.com had an article about Christmas in Sonoma so you might check that archive.
One of the big wine websites has a list of wineries that includes contact information for all of them in that region- a small shortcut to visiting each site to look up what you want to know, but anything helps, right? My first thought is that its actually the winecountry.com winery list ( I haven't used it in a while ) but it could have been on winecountrygetaways.com.

Sorry I'm not more definitive for you; hopefully one of the local posters will see this and be able to provide more concrete information. At least this may get you started

We are considering moving our yearly trip to Napa/Sonoma from early December to instead begin immediately following Christmas and staying until January 2. Will we have plent to see/eat/drink? Does the valley shut down over New Year's? We would appreciate any thoughts the board can provide!
