loveswine Junior Member	posted 02-03-2012 02:05 PM Hi Hawkeye, I realized that I happily put this on the Napa postings, so am redoing here! I'm here, too, with thoughts for your Sonoma trip. First, an appointment at the winery with Audelssa. It's off the Oakville Grade road. They transport you up to the caves for a tasting of Chardonnay, Cab and two Bordeaux blends. About an hour and a half, $40, advance appointment. Even a view of San Francisco on a clear day. Erich Bradley is their winemaker. They do have a tasting room in Glen Ellen, too. Lesli is their Tasting Room Manager. B Wise is fairly new as far as tasting goes. Just heard of it and on my list to try. You can taste in the owners cave on his property. Highly recommended by good sources here in the valley. B Wise will be taking over the VJB tasting room in the Sonoma Valley, but the recommendation is the cave. Then, a real favorite of mine, Freeman Wines, but for truly wonderful Pinots. I know that's not your favorite. They're poured at the French Laundry and we had Akiko's cuvee recently at the Half Moon Bay Ritz Hotel. Their winery is outside of Sebastopol on Montgomery. Beautiful setting, worth a picnic! Winning awards right and left. Just four weeks and you'll be here! Maybe you could add another day to your itinerary??? IP: 68.121.220.114
yesilovewine Member	posted 01-30-2012 11:29 AM Well, Hi there Hawkeye!! Sure is slow lately, huh? We have had the Pezzi King zins at ZAP events and liked them very much, but haven't been to the ranch yet. I hope to do that next trip; even though we don't generally like to make reserved tasting appt's. WE did enjoy visiting Soda Rock and I'm sure it will have changed greatly since we were there as the renovations were still underway at the time of our visit. I love the atmosphere of the place. We liked the '06 Cab and the '04 Mercantile there. We felt like the Cab drank much better than its $35 price. If you have the time and the interest, DeLormier isn't that far off the track from there ( about a 15 min drive, I think) and I think you might like their Cabs. We really liked the '06 Smith Orchard and the Warm Springs Vineyard offerings. It looks like we may actually make a fall trip this year afterall; the schedule is lining up to make it look possible, anyway. Are you still going in October? IP: 76.182.6.182

RAFANELLI VINEYARDS - Will be our first visit. PEZZI KING VINEYARDS - We will do the Estate visit - another new one. EVERETT RIDGE WINERY - Have tasted here previously - have a nice variety. ARMIDA WINERY - Have tasted here previously - a nice variety including some nice Zins. SODA ROCK WINERY - On Hwy 126 in Alexander Valley and on the way back to Calistoga. A new one for us.
