A good point, Hawkeye. Unfortunately, mailing lists become "full".... so then one is relegated to the "waiting" list . I don't want to wait until somebody dies to get a chance at anybody's wine.
I'm frustrated by this dis-connect between the media coverage of "great wine" and the availability of said nectars...I guess that is how cult wines are created. But for a Regular Joe like me its awfully frustrating!!

Hi Yes,

A good question. I have found that by joining a particular wineries mailing list opens the doors to a lot of them. I believe that I have only found one winery so far that I haven't been able to get an allocation with this method but I am on their reserve list. The same for visiting and tasting at wineries that are "not open to the public". I don't know which wineries you are concerned about, but it can't hurt to join their lists.

If there are no tasting rooms, no public events where the wine is served, no restaurants currently offering them and they are sold by allocation only, what can you do?
Over the last 4 years I've tried to work this out for several wineries of interest to no avail....is there a solution to this for a regular person like me?
