yesilovewine Member	posted 10-16-2012 08:20 AM Some additional notes: I wanted to say here that I was surprised at the rich sensuousness of the Monte Rosso Cab at Paradise Ridge. It was a much better wine that the Elevation, and that ( Elevation) is one of my PR favorites. And Keating- This is a place that I will watch. They are very interested in using the old historic vineyards and I find that interesting. So much history in your glass... Because we are St. Francis members, we stopped there first and members may taste as many as they like so... 2009 Lagomarsino Cab 2011 Estate Cuvee` Blanc 2008 Sonoma Valley Malbec 2008 Anthem Meritage- this is a BIG wine 2009 Sonoma Valley Cab 2009 Amann Vyd Zinfandel- personal fave 2009 Behler Merlot 2009 Sonoma County Port 2009 Rose`- very tart then, Chateau St. Jean but only for lunch- we were ignored by the tasting bar staff then St. Anne's Crossing- this is a new facility by the Wilson group to put a "Zin house" in Sonoma Valley. Our pal Chris Barrett from Pezzi King is the winemaker. They are located in the old Blackstone facility across the street from CSJ. 2011 Sauv. Blanc 2006 AV Cabernet/ Oak Ridge Vyd 2010 Serracino Reserve 2010 Harris Kratka Reserve 2010 Split Rail Reserve Zin 2010 King City Reserve Neat Story- this winery is named for the and the Canadian Equivalent of our Ellis Island and the wines are named for districts of Toronto where Ken Wilson grew up. St. Anne's shares a tasting room with Naked Winery which is a European venture which represents an international array of boutique wineries that want to acheive a presence in the US. We only tried the Temperanillos that they offer, but they were worth trying. Please do take a few minutes to look at their website: www.nakedwines.com to see how their business works. Its different from most American business models that I'm familiar with but it could be a very good way to explore international markets at a ridiculously low price. next- Paradise Ridge in Kenwood LOVE PR wines and love Annette, too. She is a great hostess and lots of fun. Tasted: Sparkling Brut cuvee- very crisp and festive, not too astringent/ good balance 2008 Monte Rosso Cab- sensuous wine 2007 Elevation Cab/ Rockpile 2009 The Posse Annette has also instituted a sensory garden experience that is fun and really helpful in the exploration of wine flavors. next- Charles Creek Our son asked us to get a bottle of the chocolate port so that's all we tried there, but its still a great fun wine Last- Keating Keating has been recommended to us at least 3 times and since the winemaker at St. Francis is one of those recommending it, I thought we should check this place out. Its located in the Cornerstone complex with a bunch of shops and gardens outide of Schellville. Look for the giant purple chair... Anyway, this was a great stop 2009 Keating Sonoma Valley Merlot- grown on the Bedrock vineyards owned and managed by Morgan Peterson, very good 2010- Keating Buchignani Zin 2010 Keating Montecillo Zin 2009 Keating Montecillo Cabernet 2009 Keating Georges III Cab ( this is from Napa) All the wines here are quite good and we would have bought some if we'd had any more room...we shipped home 5 cases this time, kids, and our club shipments haven't started yet... That's it. Napa is on their board. Again, you know I love to "talk" wine so please don't hesitate to ask about any of the wineries or wines.
