Its never to early to make a reservaton. Go to Santa Cruz on the web and lodging does come up. Happy trails

Planning to visit this summer and was looking for reviews on places to stay, but there's not a category for that, so I'll post this here and see what happens.
Are there cheap hotels near the beach? What else should I plan besides a day on the boardwalk? What's the nightlife like there?
Is it too soon to make resevations for this summer?
