Thanks for the reply - I'd like to see the Mendocino board get a little more life. To your point, we had a great time and did some of the stuff you noted in the article (glass beach, botanical gardens, etc.). What a great place overall - winecountry mixed with the Pacific Northwest. You can't do much better than that. Just a relaxing time that I won't soon forget. For views, Pacific Star was the winner - right out there on the Bluff. Just amazing. I'm glad the tasting room in Ft. Bragg suggested that we go see the winery. From a wine perspective, Esterlina was the winner. Remarkable hospitality and great wine. Claudia Springs, McNab Ridge, Hendley, and Navarro were also very good. IP: 208.62.154.73 |

I love Mendocinco in January. The crab fests are so fun and the coastline is just amazing. Warm fires, social glasses of wine; that's what memories are made from. I know we are a bit late for your trip, but here's a story we did on Fort Bragg. Our reporter went during the end of January and brought back some great crab cake recipes. I'm planning on going to Mendocino during the first weekend of the Crab & Wine Festival Jan 20-23. I thought it woul dbe good to hit the wineries in Alexander Valley on the way up and then go from there. Any thoughts on which wineries are "can't miss?". I'm also looking for suggestions on other activities. I saw that Richochet Ranch had trail-rides on the beach and through the redwoods which sounded nice. Glass beach sounded interesting. Any thoughts? IP: 208.62.154.73 |
