I ate at Angele's last night...not an uncommon experience for me. They are a little French restaurant in downtown Napa located along the riverfront. I've always loved the quaint atmosphere and I like the food. Not stellar, but always a good spot and fairly consistent.

Last night was not different EXCEPT they changed the menu. Alright...maybe that's not a huge deal. Keeping a fresh menu, changing up things not a bad idea BUT along with this change seemed to be a serious hike in prices for the entrees. I did not see one item on the menu (in the entree section) less than $24. Having wine, an appetizer, and dessert all of a sudden went out the window. I don't mind paying for good food, but while I like Angele's food, it's not mind blowingly good. And hey...we are still in economic crisis.

The only consolation is that Angele's does 50% off bottles of wine on their list Sunday - Thursday. Each night featuring a different varietal. Last night was white wines and I had a great Savingnon Blanc by Sawyer Cellars. I'm not sure I'll be back anytime soon...maybe just for dessert and wine. We'll see.

Anyone else noticing that prices seem to be creeping up on restaurant menus in the Valley?
