We just returned from a lovely weekend in Napa, our first, but not last visit to the area. We had never been before so excited to explore a new area. We learned that the farther north you drive from the city of Napa, the more beautiful the scenery, in our opinion. We ended up staying at a very beautiful guest house near Calistoga called the Meadowlark Inn. The hosts could not have been any nicer which was immediately evident as they greeted us upon arrival. Our room was nicely appointed and comfortable and included a private patio area where we could watch wildlife and sip wine among the scent of the roses that surrounded us. The daily breakfast served on a deck overlooking the pristine grounds was incredibly delicious (homemade and nutritious) and was only enhanced by the great conversation among the other guests and our hosts, Richard and Kurt. We were treated like family and appreciated the nice balance of attentiveness and privacy. The grounds were beautiful and if you love horses, this is the place for you. There is no doubt that when we return, we will be staying at the Meadowlark Inn once again. After only one visit, a return trip will feel like being back home with family. Thanks for a very relaxing and memorable weekend! Sincerely, Randy and Teresa O. April 2008
