Hi Wine Lover,

One place you might consider for lodging is the Stevenson Manor Best Western Inn in Calistoga. Staying at the top of the valley has many advantages. It has just been completely refurbished. You don't have to spend a fortune . . . I would rather spend my money on wine than sleeping. You can go south on Hwy 29 to many wineries; you can go south on the Silverado Trail to the many wineries there; you can go west to the wineries of Sonoma; and last but not least, you can go north to the wineries around Healdsburd. The last area includes the Dry Creek area and sports excellent Zinfandels and Cabs.

Also, there are many excellent restaurants in Calistoga proper and on down Hwy 29.

Try some of the smaller Mom and Pop wineries as many times they have as good if not better wines than the big boys and they are happy to see you.

My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Napa the end of May 09. We are on a budget so any tips on where we could stay for 5 nights at a reasonable price would be appreciated. Is there anything we 100% must see? We are both wine lovers and cannot wait to go on this adventure!
