Hi.
The Lodge at Sonoma is a nice property and is in a good location for your other needs like dining and shopping. Its a good option.
As far as how to divide your trip- it really depends on the wineries you want to visit and the wines you like. If you are a Napa wine drinker, then you will probably want to stay over there and concentrate on those wines; same for Sonoma.
Given that you want to spend some time exploring SF as well, had you considered leaving wine country on Saturday afternoon and staying in SF that night to have a little more time there? The wineries tend to be quite crowded on the weekends anyway,so you could hit a few in the Carneros area on the way out ( which means early and before they get crowded) and then have the afternoon added to your SF adventure. If you haven't been before, SF is pretty cool and is not a town you can just blow through, so you may want that extra time. Just a thought...

I'll be at a conf. in San Fran. in mid-July. It's fast approaching and I'm staying from Thurs-Sun to visit either Napa or Sonoma and would also like to actually see San Fran a day too after the conference. Should I focus on ONLY one region - Napa or Sonoma and if so, which one. Any places to stay? I can get The Lodge (Marriott) at Sonoma Thurs/Fri but then have trouble finding a 1-night reserv. in Napa (due to minimum stays?). Any guidance is much appreciated for a 1st time visitor! Thanks!
