It is a small, clean hotel on the fairly busy Soscal road. It isn't exactly in a picturesque part of town, but very close to the "historic" downtown area. We have stayed there several times and never had a bad experience. We even arrived well after midnight (due to flight delay) and they were fine with that. (I had called to alert them when we first found out that we would be delayed) They do serve a standard hot breakfast buffet - not particularly fabulous, but hot and perhaps filling, which is important before a day of wine tasting! We like to stay either there or the Best Western nearby since that is where the Siverado Trail starts and it's our favorite route into the vineyards - the other road (Rt. 29) on the other side of Napa has much more traffic, and isn't as scenic. The downtown area and the Oxbow Market area are both nearby - maybe a mile, mile and half. Plenty of tasting rooms and restaurants in both.
There are fancier hotels in Napa, also B&Bs. We prefer the Hawthorn or Best Western because of price - we are only at the hotel to sleep, so all I need is clean and quiet We'd rather spend the money on wine, not a bunch of amenities that we aren't around to use...

We are planning a trip to Napa and tentatively have book a room at Hawthorn suites in late sept. Can anyone tell us about the accomodations and things to do around there. Thanks
