Hi Mag,

We stayed at Hotel Yountville before their additions and remodeling. It was a great place. However, I understand that now they add on charges for every little thing. The breakfast used to be free but now they charge for it. I have heard good things about the Vintage Inn but have not stayed there.

One of the good things about staying in Yountville, they have a lot of wine tasting rooms which you can visit during the day without driving. Just park your car and walk. Also, there are a lot of great restaurants for lunch and dinner. One of our favorite lunch places is the patio at Pacific Blues Restaurant. One of our favorite dinner places is Bistro Jeanty.

Sounds like your husband is going to have a great 50th.

Mag, are you set on Napa? In other words, would another area suit you as well?
I ask because a lot of first-time visitors seem to think that Napa is the only choice, even if the wines they drink come from somewhere else....not that its a bad thing to go to Napa, but if your favorite wines come from another area then you may be better off going to where your favorites are produced.
( Not trying to snake you away from a Napa visit, by the way, just want to bring up a point that lots of first-timers don't consider since we are all rather conditioned to Napa)

I'm planning a special trip for my husband turning "50". This will be our first visit to the wine country. Yountville seems like a nice area, and seem to have boutique places to stay at. Were also open to staying a B&B but I'm a little hesitant. Sometimes the pictures look nicer on their website than the actual place itself. I'm open to any suggestions you may have. I went on trip advisor and they suggested, Hotel Yountville, Vintage Inn or North Block. Just not sure and leaning towards a B & B.
