Thanks for this, marcs! Great new info.
One question....showing my ignorance here, probably, but I was under the impression that The Fig was in Glen Ellen....is that wrong?
Left Brain LOVES Duck Confit, so if theirs is any good it will be a MUST visit for us.

I thought I would share a couple of our favorite restaurants here. A couple are off the beaten track and worth looking up.

1) Juanita Juanitas
Arnold Drive just south of Grove Street.
Kathy makes some of the best mexican food on the planet. None of it is very traditional. The place looks like a dive and is a favorite of many locals. Try the Chipotle Chicken plate, the garlic garlic burrito or the Jerk Chicken.

2) Saffron
Arnold Drive in Glen Ellen at the corner of Warm Springs road.
Cute, cute, cute, and romantic. Small place, great fresh food though a somewhat limited menu. Good local wine list. Moderately priced. Standards include a Paella, and vary with seasonal food.

3) The Fig Cafe
One block South of Saffron
Great, reasonably priced bistro food. Fabulous pizzas and everything from grilled cheese to Duck Confit. They have a $25 prix fixed menu that varied nightly. Try the Rhone varietal wines by the glass. No reservations. It opens at 5:30 and there can be a wait. A low cost alternative to The Girl and the Fig which is a sister restaurant located on the square.

Cafe LaHaye was previously mentioned in another post. It is wonderful. It is just off the square on Napa street E. There are 4 seats at the bar for walk ins and occasionally you can get lucky and get a seat, otherwise reserve early.
