To avoid confusion with Sullivan Vineyard of Napa Valley, Glen Ellen’s Sullivan Birney winery has become Navillus Birney Winery and Vineyards.
The winery started with the purchase of 23 acres on a knoll on Sonoma Mountain near Glen Ellen in 1998 followed by plantings in Pinot Noir and Char-donnay. Owners later added 50 acres in the Sonoma Coast appellation, also planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The Navillus Birney Tasting Room is at 13647 Arnold Dr. in Glen Ellen. The site also includes the Garden Court Café and an exhibit of Glen Ellen’s history. (707) 933.8514.
