San Francisco’s Fort Mason Center was the site once more for the annual tastings of the winery trade organization, Family Winemakers of California. Held on Sunday, Nov. 7 and Monday Nov. 8, 2004 this mega-tasting featured more than 400 member wineries from all over California.

Sunday’s tasting was open to both consumers and members of the wine trade, while Monday’s event was for the trade only. It’s not a tasting for the faint of heart, as it is one of the largest events of its kind held in California with more than 2,000 wines available for the trying. Being selective is key; many people (especially those in the trade) taste 100 or more wines, so spitting is a necessity.
