Saucelito Canyon Winery
Opens Tasting Room
more than 30 years, a passion for Zinfandel from Arroyo Grande Valley has guided
the friendly folks at Saucelito Canyon Vineyards and Winery. Back in the 1970s,
winemaker and grower William Greenough started by restoring a three-acre Zinyard
from the 1880s. He also planted additional Zin vines (now more than 25 years
old), marrying the two fruit sources to produce three wines with notable complexity
and depth. While the newer fruit provides bolder flavors of strawberry and raspberry,
the older offers more subtle flavors of blackberry and cherry.
Saucelito Canyon enjoys a spectacular, but remote location, making their wines
a bit hard to get a hold of …until now. They have just opened an attractive
new Craftsman-style tasting room minutes from San Luis Obispo, which should
help to bring these outstanding wines to the forefront.
Open Thursday-Monday, 10am-5pm
3180 Biddle Ranch Road,
San Luis Obispo, CA
