Anyone who’s rued bypassing the cosmopolitan charms of San Francisco en route to wine country no longer need despair. Because with the new partnership between Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco and Meadowood Napa Valley, well-heeled (and well-financed, I might add) visitors can now enjoy the charms of both spots in the context of one very sweet deal.
The Town & Country package – available now through December 22, 2008 – combines the best of both worlds in a luxe five-day, four night lodging and dining deal that includes exclusive amenities at every step of the way. Beginning with private car service from San Francisco International Airport to Mandarin Oriental, the San Francisco portion of the package encompasses welcome cocktails, wine and cheese pairings and a prix fixe dinner with wine pairings for two at Silks, the hotel’s award-winning four-star restaurant. After two days in the city, guests travel to Napa (by BMW, Audi Roadster or Mercedes at the Mandarin’s discounted luxury car rental rate, should they choose) to relax among the croquet lawns, tennis courts, fairways and hiking trails at Meadowood. Package perks at the Relais & Chateaux property include two ninety-minute spa treatments, a personal one-hour wine tasting with the property’s sommelier and a four-course dinner for two paired with wines at The Restaurant at Meadowood, awarded two stars by the venerable Michelin Guide.
When the five days are done, guests are graciously chauffeured back to SFO by private car. Whether they’re able to readjust so seamlessly to their daily lives after all this pampering is another question entirely.
