First came a world-class burger (Taylor’s Automatic Refresher
), then nationally-acclaimed vegetarian fare (Ubuntu Napa
), and now Napa can add its very own master-brewed beer to the list of latest and greatest wine-and-food additions the bustling waterfront city is acquiring.
Brewing Up Business
Come next spring, visitors to Napa will be able to sample the suds for themselves at newcomer Napa Smith Brewery’s
soon-to-be-opened tasting room. In the meantime, the beer – available in pale ale, amber ale and wheat styles – can be found on tap at the likes of Napa Valley Grill, Meritage Resort, Auberge du Soleil, Pizzeria Tra Vigne and – fittingly – Taylor’s Automatic Refresher and Ubuntu Napa. Made by Master Brewer Don Barklay (most of whose 30 years’ experience in craft brewing were acquired at cult-popular Mendocino Brewing Company), Napa Smith’s brews are just one more reason to get excited about goings-on in Napa, arguably wine country’s most exciting of-the-moment destination.
