Oenophiles looking for an excuse to experience the bounty Mendocino has to offer need wait no longer. The weekend of August 29 and 30, 2009 will see luminaries from the spot known as the greenest wine region in the country
open their doors and uncork outstanding wines in support of Cancer Resource Centers of Mendocino County. The event is called Pure Mendocino
, and it’s shaping up to be purely fantastic.
“A Celebration of Life and Hope”
Dubbed “a celebration of life and hope” with proceeds going to support Mendocino cancer sufferers and their families, the weekend-long festivities kick off with a highly anticipated five-course, alfresco wine dinner hosted by Mendo luminary Paul Dolan
at his Biodynamic Dark Horse Vineyard ($135/person) near Ukiah. Sunday afternoon will see wines from renowned area vintners paired with the likes of organic and biodynamic cheese, meats and produce – all locally sourced – at The Apple Farm ($40/person) in Philo, where guests can take a farm tour with hosts Tim and Karen Bates between sips. In all, it’s a sumptuous weekend with a good cause behind it – making it the excuse you’ve been waiting for to finally head up the coast to this dynamic emerging region.
