Street Requiem is a 50-minute work originally composed in 2014 by Australian Kathleen McGuire, Andy Payne, and Jonathon Welch to memorialize the many who have died on the street. The piece has been performed in cities all over the world including Melbourne (Australia), Dallas, San Francisco, Boston, and New York, among others. In September 2016, internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade performed the New York premiere of STREET REQUIEM at Carnegie Hall. A deeply moving and reflective work, Street Requiem aims to bring a sense of peace, remembrance and hope to communities struggling with homelessness, poverty, war, hate crime, and street violence.
