Easter Guide: Sonoma/Napa Valley

Sonoma/Napa—Hang on to your Easter bonnet, there's plenty of fun to be had this Easter weekend in Wine Country. We've found some of the best brunches and activities this side of the Bunny Trail. Keep in mind that many require advance reservations, so if you're planning to show up last minute, call ahead to make sure they can accommodate you.

Napa Valley: Easter Sunday Brunches

(Calistoga) Calistoga Inn Restaurant and Brewery
Easter Brunch on the patio, 10am to 3pm. moderately priced, children welcome.

(Yountville) Domaine Chandon
A special 3-course Easter Menu served from 11am-5pm. The check is a bit steep at $65 per guest, $85.00 with wine pairings; but the menu includes lobster, scallops, beef and other wondrous choices from the chef. Children's options available.. 1 California Dr. Yountville, 707.944.2280

(Yountville)  Napa Valley Grille
Set yourself up at the Bunny Buffet, which will include chocolate bunnies, cinnamon rolls, banana bread, and a tower of blueberry muffins, rows of petit fours, fresh fruit, and coffee cake. Celebratory cocktails include a Lemon Verbena Ramos Fizz. This brunch has become a local favorite. Easter brunch from 11:30am to 3:30 pm. 2-courses for $28 per person.

(St. Helena) Martini House
The cozy, popular restaurant is offering a special 3-course Easter Prix Fixe Lunch for $35, with optional wine pairing for $60. Potato soup, spring lamb, rhubarb strawberry shortcake. (Napa) Julia's Kitchen at Copia
Three-course prix fixe menu prepared by Executive Chef Victor Scargle and Pastry Chef Nicole Plue. Lobster bisque, rosemary roasted rib roast, chocolate mousse (and more).  $40 per person (not including wine) and $15 per child age 12 & under., 11:00 am – 3:00 pm

Egg Hunts and Other Events

(Napa) Saturday: Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Kennedy Park
Sponsored by the Napa Active 20-30 Club festivities begin at 10:15am. Children between the ages of 0-12 can enjoy face painting, free balloons, explore a fire truck, and visit with the Easter Bunny and Friends. Egg Hunt at begins at 11am , Kennedy Park, Napa, 707.253.2030, free.

Sonoma:  Easter Sunday Brunches

(Santa Rosa) John Ash
A special menu including Nutella, peanut-butter and strawberry stuffed French toast, eggs Benedict, maple cured pork tenderloin and much more. Reservations highly recommended. 4330 Barnes Rd, Santa Rosa., 707.527.7687.

(Sonoma) Carneros Bistro
This top-rated Sonoma bistro puts out an elaborate spread for the Easter weekend. Children welcome. $44 adults/ $19 children. 10:30am to 3pm. Call 707.931.2042.

(Sonoma) The Sonoma Community Center puts on its annual Easter/Passover Dinner at the center, 276 E. Napa St. A gourmet, "home-cooked" meal with all the holiday trimmings is offered free to all members of the community. For time and further information, call the center, 707-938-4626.

(Sonoma) MacArthur Place
Lavish Easter Brunch Buffet. Easter Bunny with treats for the kids. 10:30 am to 2 pm $38 adults, $18 children under 12.

(Sonoma) Soroptimist Easter Egg Hunt
The annual Soroptimist International Sonoma Valley Easter Egg Hunt takes place at 10 a.m. at the north end of Sonoma Plaza. The Easter Bunny will greet kids prior to the hunt. Ages 2 and up; children should bring their own baskets and be accompanied by an adult. (707) 996.1033.

(Petaluma) Easter Children's Fair
 Bring the whole family for a fun-filled afternoon of Easter fun. Festivities include a scavenger hunt around the center, carnival games, Jubilee Jumps, raffle prizes, photos with the Easter Bunny, who will distribute colorful eggs to visitors, and special appearances by Mr. Jelly Belly, Big Dog, and Clo the Cow from Clover Stornetta Farms. The Petaluma Police Department will be on hand at the event to conduct free Children's Finger-Printing. All proceeds from the event benefits the United Way and Simon Youth Foundation, 12 to 3pm, 707.778.9300

(Santa Rosa) Celebrate the Easter beagle at the Charles M. Schulz Museum

(Sonoma) Watch the sunrise from Cline Cellars on Easter morning when the winery hosts the annual Easter Sunrise Mass beginning at 5:30 a.m. Sunrise is at 6:02 a.m.. Coffee and pastries will be served following the service. Cline Cellars is located at 24737 Highway 121, just south of the City of Sonoma. Call 707.940.4000 for details.
