Arrowood Vineyards & Winery

Arrowood is 100% Sonoma. Our winery is located in the historic Sonoma Valley,a small sub-appellation in the heart of the county. Often described as a warm pocket in a cool region, this rolling AVA is particularly well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, our signature wine. We also produce limited quantities of other noble varieties from some of Sonoma’s acclaimed vineyards. Our Estate is located along Sonoma Highway in the small town of Glen Ellen. From its stunning perch in the hills above Sonoma Valley, the veranda at the tasting room offers spectacular views of this landmark property and an intimate setting to taste our limited release wines. The Arrowood Estate Vineyard is a small plot containing just eight acres. It is planted to seven varietals, making it a backyard garden for blending options and limited quantity wines.

Since our first vintage three decades ago, we have established relationships with some of the finest growers in Sonoma. The primary vineyards we harvest from are farmed organically or sustainably to ensure the highest quality fruit with the lowest impact on the environment. We favor the three valleys in Sonoma County where the ideal natural elements for exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon converge. By sourcing fruit from these three legendary locations, Arrowood wines offer a showcase of Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon at its very best. Protected from ocean influences, Knights Valley is the warmest with fine textured soils that lend to excellent drainage, giving the fruit grown here broad tannins and robust structure. Alexander Valley sits in the hills above the valley floor where the climate is balanced by cool morning fog and intense mid-day sunlight. Well-drained rocky soils at this elevation lead to expressions of blue fruit with savory tea aromas. Finally, Sonoma Valley with its volcanic soil and hillside aspects of our organically grown vineyards, give Cabernet grown here great acidity and mineral notes to go with lush red fruit aromas.

Our winemaker, Kristina Werner has worldwide experience, a Master’s Degree in science and a passion for farming. She carries on a storied tradition of revealing Sonoma County’s seemingly inexhaustible potential for incredible Cabernet Sauvignon. She knows that great wines are not just made, they’re grown, and practices the arts of both fine winemaking and wine farming.
