Hill Family Estate is a small botique Family owned Tasting Room in Yountville and is my pick. The Tasting Room is combined with an Antique and Art Gallery and is visually great. The staff are energetic, personalbe and info rich. The wines, wonderful Sav Blancs, Merlot's and Chards adn Pinots. the father has grown grapes for Wineries for 30 years and two years ago he and his son opened the Tasting Room on Washtington St in downtown Yountville. I loved the people, the wine and the atmosphere!

Honig is a must! I hesitated in recomending it because I like it just the way it is. It's off the beaten path, the people at the tasting room are awesome, it's owned and ran by the Honig family and has a great vibe. The wines are some of the best I have ever tasted. The Cabernet is way superior to other Napa Cabernets I have tasted that sell for more than double the price.

A group of us went to Napa and area last Oct. One good place to sample is Cosentino. I can't remember how many samples for $10.00 (4 i think), but the more we talked, the more samples they gave us!! We bought from them as well...reallly good.

Also, Blackstone in Sonoma was good too. 4 tastes for $5.00 (big samples too). Same thing, we got a lot more for the same price. Sonoma was much quieter than Napa and they had some really good sampling deals.

Thanks for the suggestions. We did Del Dotto years ago..it was awesome and NOT $40 back then. My husband LOVES port, so we are def. adding Prager to the list. That will be a special treat to our 9 year anniversary trip! Thanks again.

If you have never been to Del Dotto, go and take the $40 tour. The make some of the best wine in the Valley. Also, if you like port, check out Prager Port Works. Little family owned winery, great port.
