If your first visit, Sterling is a good one. I would also recommend William Hill Winery. They have a gorgeous view from their picnic area and you can just grab some cheese, bread, meats before coming up, grab a bottle of wine in their tasting room and just soak up some some with views of their vineyards.

For a really out of this world experience, go to Hall Winery (the Rutherford location off the Silverado Trail a little ways up from Auberge du Soleil). Absolutely breathtaking views, look at the art, wine is fabulous, and take a tour of the caves. Definitely well worth the visit.

There was a recent review of them here:

Hi. We'll be in the Napa Valley for 4 days in May and wondered whether there are any wineries that are just so unique/beautiful that we should add them to our itinerary whether we are familiar with their wines or not?

This is our first trip to Napa and we really want to "experience" as much as possible.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

Kathy
