Frog's Leap is another we haven't managed to visit yet, but would like to one of these days. Yes, planning is half the fun! I've been enjoying a 2007 Chardonnay from Cakebread as I do my research this evening. High School football this weekend - what fun! Enjoy cheering on your grandson! IP: 76.31.54.111

In the meantime we have a trip to Wilmington, DE this weekend to visit son and family. 15 year old freshman grandson plays football so we are going Friday night to see him play. I would like to taste at Shafer, also, but it just isn't in the schedule this trip. Would like to try their Hillside Select and One Point Five cabs, however, the Hillside Select is a little out of my budget range. Maybe for an anniversary or some special occasion. There is another place on Sage Canyon Road that I would like to visit, David Arthur Vineyards. They are a little higher end also, but I would like to taste their wines. Since you are looking for a tasting place close to Sage Canyon Road, have you tried Round Pond or Frogs Leap on Rutherford Crossroad? I wouldn't swear to this, but I thing Frogs Leap won the 1976 Paris Tasting with their cab. You migh also enjoy Clif Lede which is also on Yountville Crossroad or Robert Sinskey on the east side of the Silverado Trail. I have had their RSV cab which was just not too bad. Kuleto is on Sage Canyon Road on beyond Lake Hennessey. I understand that the views are outstanding, and I like a nice view with my wine We have a tasting appt first thing at Shafer and then at 2:30 at Kuleto. I was trying to find a likely spot between the two and near Auberge de Soleil (going to have lunch at the bistro there), which is why I was asking about Rutherford Hill Winery. We have been to Rutherford Hill before and thought the wines were okay, but not exciting . . . good thing we all don't have the same tastes. We will be hitting a lot of new ones at the end of the month plus some of our favorites like Robert Biale, Girard, etc., etc. Will try to keep some notes, but with as many wineries as we are visiting, I won't guarantee that they all won't taste about the same at the end. ;-) [This message has been edited by Hawkeye (edited 10-10-2010).] IP: 68.169.189.229

bigsemi Member	posted 10-05-2010 08:01 PM Rutherford Hill is great. They have a nice little tour. Nice views, and most importantly the wine is tasting great. I was just there about a 10 days ago. I highly recommend the Terlato wines, the sangiovese, reserve merlot, and sauv blanc. Enjoy. You can probably find a 2 for 1 in the winery section or discount section of this website. We have a reservation in November at Kuleto Estate and I think that we will visit Rutherford Hill right before that. I'm trying to plan on visiting places we've never been before - Hawkeye, I'm going to look back over the itinerary you sent me for your October trip and look into the one's that are new to us... better yet, I'll just wait for your trip report once you get back!!
