We have sort of half heartedly looked at software and so forth, but a month or so ago, we decided to just do an excel-like spread sheet (I have a Macbook, so Excel is Numbers). Emptied the wine refrigerators and entered each one - took a while, but it was very nice to see what we had and get the refrigerators organized. What columns do you have in yours? We have Winery, Vintage, Varietal, Details (for label info), # available, # purchased, # consumed, Cost/bottle, Drink by, and Notes. It's a work in progress of course, so any ideas you have to add would be welcomed! Next big project is to build a wine room at the lake My hubby has designed a 4 x 8 room that he plans to build during the Christmas break. You can get the special air conditioners through Wine Spectator, so he's all excited and is gung ho to build it. Fine with me! Get all those boxes off the floor (we have a few sitting around too, yesilovewine!)IP: 98.197.192.216 |

We had a little freezing rain that stuck to the grass and a little on the driveway, but the roads around here were open. A little further south of us, the interstate got bad.If you want to send me your email address, I will forward an email I got from Tina Maples. You can click on the link above and find my address. By the way, Hawkeye, are you working on the inventory while the snow piles up or did the bad weather miss you? IP: 98.232.221.183 |

Hawkeye, you are just too organized!! Our wine rack doesn't warrant that kind of technology...I can see everything we have. Well, except for the ones that Left Brain has stored on the floor...IP: 98.232.221.183 |

I was overwhelmed by the number of responses I received regarding inventory software. I ended up making my own spreadsheet on Exel. I would really liked to have the scanner, but it was just hard to justify the cost . . . I could purchase a few more bottles of wine for the price. I know my spreadsheet isn't as comprehensive as some of the software that can be purchased, but I think it will work for me. Will kkep my options open though.IP: 68.169.189.111 |

I finally got around to recording the purchases we made on our October trip to wine country. We came home with a ridiculous 70 bottles which arrived a box at a time. The UPS guy and the FedEx person started looking at us like we were crazy. Maybe so!Is there anyone out there using a wine inventory software that they really like? I have been looking on the web and would really like to have the IntelliScanner, which is a small hand held scanner that scans the bar code on the bottle and stores all of the information about the wine until you can download it onto their software which comes with it. This one sells for $249.00. There is another less sophisticated called Personal Wine Curator where you enter all of the information about your wine into the software by hand. Cost, about $50.00. I have also thought about creating my own in Excell. Are there any others in use that you like? IP: 68.169.189.111 |
