If you do return in the fall, during "Crush", consider the other end of October and attend the Sonoma Harvest Fair the first full weekend of the month. 3 full days at the fairgrounds; nearly all of the Sonoma County producers enter the wine competition which means there is something like 1000 wines to choose from- all in one place ! If you go on Friday, the crowds are smaller and only the gold medal and higher wines are poured. The day is divided into sessions of a couple hours each and you pay one fee for each session- then taste all you care to for that one price. The other days any of the wines entered can be poured and, after the entrance fee which includes a few tasting tickets, you have to buy additional tickets to taste with. Tons of fun and no better opportunity to taste so many Sonoma County wines with such ease. IP: 98.232.221.183

Poohh66 Member	posted 02-17-2011 06:20 AM Day four and five has brought lots of rain and colder weather, can't complain considering that the first 3 days were gorgeous i guess.... but I have to admit that it definitely slowed us down ~Rombauer... my favorite here was definitely the Proprietor Zinfandel and my husband's was the 2004 Atlas Peak Cabernet, we had tried the Cab at Capital Grill and really enjoyed it. ~B Cellars, I believe a pretty new place, the tasting room is very pretty, we stopped here only to visit Gretchen, we had met her at Beringer a couple of days before and this was her second day at B Cellars, unfortunately she was not there yet, we still enjoyed it though Gretchen's fun spirit and awesome personality was lacking in the tasting room ~Hall, a wine we enjoy at home on a regular basis, we get the '07 Napa Valley Cab for just $30 at Costco (sold at the tasting room for $44) and get a bottle of the 2007 HALL "Kathryn Hall" Cabernet every time we eat at Bonefish Grill so my husband was interested in tasting the 'good stuff' we can't get at home. The 2006 "Exzellenz" Sacrashe Vineyard Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon was the winner to take home... ~Late lunch at Rutherford Grill... their huge, delicious cheeseburger don't ever disappoint us, we also ordered the crabcake meal "best crabcakes EVER", we shared both dishes and off we head to StageCoach Express to ship ...we ended up shipping 5 and 1/2 cases, they DO NOT charge for the box and packaging even if you do not bring their coupon, I had printed just 1 at home actually forgot it, there are plenty of coupons in their store but you really don't need it. Going home tomorrow, it has been an amazing trip and experience, but I am ready to go home talking about coming back in October during harvest season (?) the last time we were here was also in Feb back in 2008, would love to experience it in the fall...... (by the way Hawkeye... I had emailed Jeff Blaum tuesday morning so we could stop by but never heard back from him, I had checked online before leaving the hotel and knew we needed an appt and couldn't just show up, I had to cancel the appt. we had originally made with him before we left town for saturday (did give him notice!) anyway we really wanted to stop there, but unfortunately didn't get to meet him, never heard back) hopefully next time [This message has been edited by Poohh66 (edited 02-22-2011).] IP: 173.168.214.16
