Sorry I didn't see your post earlier Hawkeye. I am about 4 1/2 hours from Montgomery. I live in Olive Branch, MS just minutes from Memphis, TN.

If you ever get over to Memphis please let me know.

Hey Reb,

At the Super Bowl! I guess I will just have to stay home and watch it on my 90" flat screen, HD screen TV. Don't believe I have a 90"? Well, it is 46" anyway.

How far are you from Montgomery? I have been invited to talk to the daylily club there sometime this year.

Have a great time at the Super Bowl.

-Hawkeye

P. S. I look forward to seeing your itinerary.

Hey Hawkeye,

I am getting close with my agenda. I will post it next week when it is finalized. I am in New Orleans getting ready for the Super Bowl.

Hated to hear you weren't going to Napa. I feel like I am there when I read your reports. Wish you could go with us. Take care.

Reb

Haven't done much with it yet. Our Napa trip is at the end of May.
We have a family reunion/wedding in central CA at the beginning of May and we will spend a day in Paso Robles touring and tasting - I've been doing some research on those wineries. Should be fun comparing the two regions!

Aw, I'm sorry about your trip, Hawkeye. I do understand how Mrs. Hawkeye feels about not wanting to leave a member of the family during this time.

Yeah, we need a trip report from Richard and we need trip plans from everyone else!

Hi Damombo,

As I thought about it, I do remember Surh Luchtel. If I remember correctly, it is very close to Robert Biale Winery, which is one of my favorite Zin houses.

Heh Rebel, have you made your itinerary yet?

We have cancelled our March trip. I am not sure that I am up to it yet, and our Lab has pancreatic cancer which we are treating with chemo, and Mrs. Hawkeye just does not want to put her in a kennel right now. So, I guess I will have to go to Napa through the eyes of all of you. Find me some good wineries to visit when we do make another trip.

Oh it's so sad when the memory goes!

Silly Hawkeye, you certainly did visit them - how do you think I found them? You are my source!! (and remember - Mr. Damombo wants you to continue to be well and find us new, delightful wineries to visit - perhaps we should be sending you a retainer?)

This place is only charging $85 pp, which is why I jumped at the chance. It looks like other events have been $105 and $150 pp, so I guess it depends on what the winery wants to charge? I don't know why there would be such a discrepancy in price - but I like the $85 choice!

Hi Damombo,

Surh Lucktel, that name sure sounds familiar. Maybe we visited them a few years ago. Really familiar!

Our St. John's Restaurant will on occasion host a wine dinner and we attend most of them. Ours will run in the neighborhood of $150.00 pp. If I may be so bold, what is your restaurant charging?

Got an email this afternoon that a local restaurant will be hosting a Surh Lucktel dinner next week! And we are going to go! Gary Lucktel will be there and the menu looks delish
Apparently this place has hosted several other wine dinners - Switchback Ridge was there last fall and earlier in the year they had Nickel & Nickel, Far Niente, Orin Swift and Fisher.
So glad to have found this out - sorry we missed the Switchback Ridge event. That is one of the wineries represented by Scotti Stark and we had the pleasure of tasting their wines in October. Outstanding wines.
I'll let y'all know how it goes!!
