I know that at least one on this board has mentioned Blue Hall Winery on Howell Mountain. We both have tried to make an appointment to taste but could never reach anyone. Blue Hall is owned by two physicians, husband and wife (I think maybe infectious disease)and they travel to foreign countries extensively.

I normally like to taste a wine before I purchase, so I have not ordered their Cab,
“Camiana" which is their 100% estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon.

Last night, we had dinner with some new friends who are also into wine. The only difference between us is that I would order 2 bottles and he would order 2 cases. I know he just purchased 12 (yes twelve) cases of the Shafer Merlot. Anyway, he brought a bottle of 2008 Blue Hall Camiana Cab which just about blew me away. The wine was balanced by dark berry fruit flavors and a remarkable velvety smooth finish. There were hints of pepper and spice.

I asked our friend if he had visited Blue Hall. He said no, but a friend of his had shared a bottle of Camiana with him and his reaction was the same as mine. The restaurant owner had the same reaction.

We took a bottle of our 2001 Kelham Cab and I know they are going to get a call Monday with an order.

So, on my next trip I will try very hard to visit Blue Hall. In the meantime, I will order a couple . . . bottles, not cases.

Life is very, very good.
