Howdy Hawkeye!

Well, a wine dinner is always fun, even if the wines aren't particularly fantastic. It's good to explore.

Do tell about the Hunnicutt wines - we will have one day in Napa in June (on our way to a gathering in Paso Robles) and I was planning to visit Hunnicutt. I'll be interested to hear your impression of their wines. Because, ya know, you do tell it like it is!!

Mrs. Hawkeye and I had the pleasure of attending a wine dinner in Chattanooga on Wednesday night, May 14. The wines were from Shannon Ridge in Lake County, just north of Napa Valley. The dinner was held at our favorite restaurant in Chattanooga, St. John's. We dined on seared sea scallops with Chardonnay, house-cured duck ham with a Barbara, Columbia River King Salmon with a Zinfandel blend, Lamb tenderloin with a Cab, and an El Rey chocolate cake with a Malbec.

I don't think I am a wineaux snob, but from the price point, I did not expect a lot from the wines, and I was not disappointed. They did not do anything for my palate. I thought they were very weak and nondescript. (Tell it like it is, Hawkeye)!

This coming Thursday night, we will be attending a tasting of Hunnicutt wines. I am hoping for something better than the last one.

Still, it is fun to get together with friends and about 40 other people to sit down and enjoy exquisite food.

"Where have all my Wine Board friends gone"? Does that sound like the lyrics to a song?
