I tasted the Harvest Moon Sparkling Zin in May. Believe is his only sparkling, but is different enough that if you have time, may give a try. Made in the true champagne method. Harvest Moon is worthy of a visit anyway, imo. If you can, go on Wednesday's because I think that is the day that Randy (owner/winemaker) works the tasting room. Always good when you can interact with the winemaker.

I bumped up that sparkler thread for you...Hawkeye mentioned a good one...well, I haven't had it myself, but Williamson makes some delicious wine so I'm betting on that one.

Thanks for your reply! I wasn't too interested in Korbel just because I can get it pretty much anywhere, I'll have to look up some of the others a bit more and see what peaks our interest.

If you have any other MUSTS for us to stop into you'll have to let me know!

Thanks!

Hello again.
I seem to be the only one hanging out on the boards of late...hope you don't mind hearing so much from one person.
Sparklers...that could be really interesting as there are a couple of Sonoma wineries that are playing with some new ideas...Harvest Moon being one of them.
We haven't hit Korbel just because it is always a bit outside of our parameters geographically. Hope to stop in next visit.
Their tour is reportedly very interesting and they do have a nice deli on-site.
Iron Horse is a lovely setting and I liked the outdoor tasting even though it was a rainy day. We found the wines highly acidic and though flavorful, outside my comfort zone for a drink alone wine. With the right foods they would be great. If you go there, go late in the day so you don't strip your tastebuds...not kidding on that.
Gloria Ferrer- I have tasted those wines 3 times at Harvest Fair ( usually skip the fizz and head straight to the zins) and each time felt the same- way too earthy for my taste. I know that some people appreciate that musty, soil-soaked smell in a wine, but I'm not one of them. They consistently place high in the awards, but its not a wine that I would ever buy.The facility is easy to get to ( unlike Iron Horse) and I've seen the caves via TV programs and they look interesting.
That's all I have from the top of my head. Again, just one person's opinion so be careful how much stock you put into it.
I tried to start a thread about sparklers a while back, I think its still here somewhere. Heaven only knows what it says, its been a while, but there may be some other wines on there I honestly don't remember.
Really glad to have a new voice here- hope you will join us and keep writing!

I am looking to top off my trip to Sonoma with a great sparkling wine. So far we have planned to visit several wineries in the area and I would just like to round out my options. If anyone knows of a fantastic place to try out, please let me know!
Thanks!
