Thanks you, great information. We'll be in Napa, Sonoma and hopefully other parts of the wine country region. I'll make sure I read up on Hawkeye informationIP: 76.31.105.239 |

Ok...well I'm more familiar with Sonoma but I'll see what I can do here... I have heard of the Napa tasting cards but have never used one. I don't recall conversation about those here, but I have seen them referred to on Trip Advisor so you could try a forum search for more info, or just google it. If pinots are your favorites, then you will probably want to plan some time in Carneros as that is really where the pinot noir grapes grow best...well, that and the far west part of Sonoma County. Hawkeye had mentioned excellent pinots are to be had at Sojourn in the town of Sonoma, so you could easily make a day trip there if your visit is long enough. I'm not a big Chardonnay fan, so I would hesitate to make a suggestion there, but read through some of the threads under wineries to visit and I think you will find a few ideas. If you would like to do a good educational tour, the Mondavi winery has a basic information tour that is good; it is not focused on Mondavi per se but on how wine is made in general. If you want to do a WOW tour, then the Castello is probably the one you want. If you are interested in relationships to the movie Bottle Shock, then Chateau Monteleana and Stags Leap might appeal to you. For a just really fun thing to do, ride the tram at Sterling. I don't really care for their wine, but the tram is neat. Of course, these are all big name places that everyone knows about; if you want to try someting that is more intimate and personal, then I am not the right person...posts by Hawkeye, Big Semi, Damambo, cab girl and others on the wineries to visit "topic" will definitly where you want to go next.IP: 98.232.221.183 |

Thank you yesilovewine, we will be doing wine tours. Pinot Noir's are my favorite, I do like a good chardonnay also. Just a good red! I also read a review about purchasing a wine card for Napa downtown. Is that highly recomended, and if so is that a online purchase only. Hi winegirl and welcome to the peanut gallery. June is a beautiful time of year in the area. What types of wine do you like and do you want to do winery tours, or tastings or both?
