I traveled to Pordenonne, near Venice, in 2005 and I came accross the "banned" wine Fragolino. My wife and I loved it; we brought a couple of bottles back with us. I tried to order it online but the Fragolino that we got was not the same wine. The wine we got was a sparkling wine; the wine we fell in love with in Italy was not sparkling. Does anybody know where I can buy the "banned" Fragolino from Northern Italy?

I thought Fragolino was a "banned" wine, in that the EU can't regulate its alcohol levels. Does anyone know of any other wines that have been restricted because of EU legistation? I have grown up drinking Fragolino (bianco and rosso) in Friuli/Venezia area. It is quite a treat.

thanks

I visited Enoteca PonteVecchio in Firenze in 2003 and had two cases of Fragolino sent back to Florida. They also have a very nice room in the back of the store for informal tastings. This was one of the most hospitable places in all of Firenze!

Shipping was rather expensive, but timely. www.enotecapontevecchio.com

I WOULD LOVE TO FIND AN ITALIAN WINE BY THE NAME OF FRAGOLINO. I JUST HAD IT IN VENICE AND IT IS SO DELICIOUS. IS THERE ANY PLACE IN THE U.S. THAT SELL IT?
